Michael Signs "Milk"

When Michael was born, I thought it would be a great idea to teach him sign language so that we can communicate earlier, before he actually has the ability to speak. With help from a Baby Einstein DVD, I've been showing him basic signs for things he would want or need. I haven't been totally consistent with using all the signs, but the one sign I have been consistent in using is the sign for "milk."
This is what the sign looks like:

This whole time, I thought that Michael wasn't even paying attention to my signing, but he totally surprised me this week when I saw that it was time for him to have a bottle, so I asked him if he wanted some milk, and he started signing "milk!"

Here he is: (Please excuse the mess on my counter. We had just gotten home from Target, and we were about to embark on a baking project, which I will post about later...)

Very cool!

  1. How very cool! I never taught Brody sign language but now he's picked some up from the Goodnight Show on Sprout. This makes me want to really get into it with both of them. Thanks for the motivation!
